Gugu gained fame for her role as Tish Jones in the BBC series. She was the daughter of the main character named Martha Jones. In 1989, she was diagnosed with cancer and died ten years later. Handler's father was Jewish, and she was educated in Reform Judaism. Handler had a pleasant and healthy life in a good neighbourhood. In her early twenties Handler moved into Los Angeles in order to take on acting. Handler started acting for income. Handler aged at the age of 21, decided to focus on stand-up comics full time following her discovery of storytelling. Handler's first job was as an actress on the cast that included all females for the Oxygen channel's reality television series Girls acting poorly. It was comprised of cameras hidden in the background and humorous humor. The show was broadcast from 2002 until 2005. Handler began appearing on different shows such including Weekends at D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler began working as a correspondent on The Tonight Show as a reporter. Handler's big break occurred in 2006, when she began hosting her program on E! The Chelsea Handler Program. The show lasted 2 seasons. Handler was a performer at The Comedy Central Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour on American soil in the following year. VH1, Comedy Central Premium Blend & HBO have shown Handler's stand-up shows. In 2010 it was confirmed that she would host for the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. The only woman ever to host the VMAs following Roseanne Bar.
